WE ALL NEED ONE
Sports Massage is fantastic for everyone and it is not just for athletes. It is a deep tissue technique to help stimulate the muscles and release the tension that builds up within the body.
Far too often those who work, compete in sport, workout in the gym or even just doing any form of manual labour will get injuries as they do not look after their bodies well. With sports massage with Physicole Fitness we will be able to help loosen those muscles and keep them working effectively for your training and for work. We are also available for PRE and POST competition massage.
More commonly I see a lot of people for upper back and lower back tension due to poor posture - due to various reasons more commonly, work or cleaning. I help by providing massage to the affected areas and opposite muscles, performing stretching/ release movements to help improve the release and mobility of the joints.
It is recommended to get a sports massage as and when you need it and for some at least 1x a week to keep the body fighting fit and help speed up the recovery process. You won't regret it as the benefits are:
Let's be realistic injuries occur all the time its in the nature of what we do everyday. Everything we do has a risk and we need to do what we need to do to reduce these risks so we can perform at our best. You will start to see some improvements after your first sports massage you see a lot more improvement through regular treatments as part of your routine.
A combination of sports massage, stretching, strength training, skill based work and mental health work will all create a great formula for success.
We know that massage has been around for a very long time and that so many of us have had one for the very fact of helping us reduce our stress levels.
Through the act of touching the skin and massaging the body we promote blood flow around the body which can have a therapeutic effect on us. How often do your shoulders so tight that they feel like they are going to break. Majority of us hold our tension here and that through massage we can help relax this and help reduce your stress levels - that pesky cortisol.
Reducing our stress levels is vital in our everyday lives. Too much stress is very detrimental to how we operate if left unchecked.
Pain is something we face all the time may it be emotional or physical. With the physical aspect of pain, sports massage can help with the risk of injury as said before and it can help with minor pains. Not sharp pain - this you must go to a doctor.
Our muscles can get really tense through exercise which can lead to pains around the body. When we release this tension it can help those affected muscles and ease that pain. Through the release of these muscles and the reduction of physical pain we inadvertently improve the emotional pain. Physical pain and emotional pain are one and the same.
FASTER RECOVERY TIME
Now I would like to say you would recover 100% after a massage - but this is never the case wherever or who ever you see even after having surgery from the best in the world. Your body needs to recover and through massage we can help improve the blood flow around the body which helps transport vital nutrients to our muscles to aid in the recovery process.
Our bodies overcome illnesses and injuries at different rates through various reasons. Recovery from lets say a cold can take a few days for some to a week or so for another.
With the massages we can help improve recovery time may it be small.
IMPROVED RANGE OF MOVEMENT AND FLEXIBILITY
As stated above reduction in stress, injury and faster recovery time with these combined we can help improve your range of movement and flexibility even more so. Through stretching and massage we improve the above and the more relaxed we are the greater the response we get from these actions. Through controlled breathing within the movements we can facilitate a greater change.
If our joints are more flexible we can therefore create improved movement patterns and improved technique in all movements. Which can lead to improved performance.
IMPROVED BODY AWARENESS AND POSTURE
This is a must! Posture and body awareness is a priority in our daily lives. Majority of people nowadays work at a desk and with really long hours of work we do not have much time to focus on our own health and fitness.
We lose the connection with our bodies. With all that is said above this helps with posture and with our performance which can lead to how our bodies function internally an externally. Massage and strength training together can improve posture drastically goodbye rounded shoulders, goodbye lower back discomfort. Hello the more confident, taller standing you.
MASSAGE AFTER CARE
Massage has many effects upon the body and our mind. After having your massage you may have lowered blood pressure and feeling relaxed.
Once upon finishing the massage your should rest for a few minutes and when you are ready, you should get up slowly allowing yourself to adjust to your relaxed state.
You may feel thirsty after the massage - this will be because of the autonomic nervous system.
So please ask for a drink of water or bring a bottle of water with you.
